Federally certifies mammography facilities and sets quality standards under the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Mammography complaints are addressed first at the facility, then via its accreditation body.

Enforces HIPAA and receives health-information privacy, security, and data-breach complaints. This is where the 2025 SimonMed data breach was reported. Complaints must generally be filed within 180 days.

A private, voluntary accreditation body — not a government regulator and without enforcement authority. ACR accredits imaging facilities against quality standards; a facility’s accreditation is often the route for certain imaging-quality concerns.

Licenses and inspects outpatient health-care facilities in Arizona, including imaging/outpatient treatment centers.

Licenses and disciplines allopathic (MD) physicians, including radiologists. Osteopathic (DO) physicians are regulated separately by the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners.

Colorado does not license radiologic technologists as a profession — national ARRT registration governs. CDPHE’s Radiation Control Program registers x-ray machines and certain non-ARRT operators (limited-scope, fluoroscopy, provisional mammography, bone densitometry), but there is no state rad-tech board.

Investigates and enforces the Colorado Consumer Protection Act and intakes consumer complaints and fraud reports.
